MS Students
Giuseppe Aiello was born in Naples, Italy. He received two B.Sc. degrees in Computer and Telecommunication Engineering and in Sports Science from the University of Cassino and Lazio Meridionale, Italy. He is currently an MS student in Mechatronics Engineering at Politecnico di Torino (PoliTo), Turin, Italy. He is also a Visiting Scholar conducting research for his MS at the DU Unmanned Systems Research Institute, DU2SRI, University of Denver, under the DU – PoliTo Exchange Faculty / Student agreement. The focus of his research is on UAV Model-Based Flight Control Algorithms that are enhanced by Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) for better performance under uncertainties.
Giancarlo Allasia received his B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering from Politecnico di Torino (PoliTo), Turin, Italy. He is currently an MS student in Mechatronics Engineering at PoliTo. He is also a Visiting Scholar conducting research for his MS at the DU Unmanned Systems Research Institute, DU2SRI, University of Denver, under the DU – PoliTo Exchange Faculty / Student agreement. The focus of his research is on bio-inspired vision-based obstacle avoidance algorithms for a team of quadrotor UAVs. His expertise span Control Systems, Hardware, Firmware, PCB Design and Mechatronics Systems Modeling and Estimation.
Troy Southard is a current MS student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at the University of Denver focusing on Mechatronic Systems Engineering. His research involves building a framework for cooperative mobile manipulation for multiple robot systems with the Robot Operating System and a Gazebo simulation environment. His work also includes integrating LIDAR sensors for object detection and a Vicon Motion Capture system for robot localization. Troy is from Downers Grove, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. He received his BS in Physics from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2017.
